[edit]Please do not change the spelling of Edwards' nickname. While "ukulele" is now the prefered spelling, at the time "ukelele" was common, and contemporary publicity material gives his nickname as "Ukelele Ike"; see for example this record label: File:NobodyKnowsWhatARedHeadMamaCanDo.jpg . -- Infrogmation 16:43, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Walt Disney could not have bought Edwards' corpse from the medical school, because by the time of Edwards' death Walt was dead too.
- Good catch. Seems to have been a misunderstanding of "Disney paid for the funeral" to mean Walt himself, rather than the company or someone at the company. -- Infrogmation 16:51, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)
I used to do film research in the 90s for two television companies and I helped with the research with one of the books titled "Final Curtain." The Disney Studios did not want to help with the burial of Cliff Edwards and was not taking care of him while he stayed in the place where he was when he died. There was a female reporter (?) who was at the place where he was living who heard that he had just died. There was no one to take care of his burial, and this woman contacted the Disney Studio to help out. They did not want to help with expenses. My research materials are packed away, but I do remember that she finally got Disney to bury Mr. Edwards, and it was in a paupers grave at Valhalla, in a section where when watered, the water sets on those graves. Mae Murray is buried not too far away from Mr. Edwards----
